Fashion for All! Our Family Style Guide

Fashion has gone family style this spring, with mom, dad and the kids all sporting similar trends at the same time. Which styles will everyone be sharing this season? Shades of pink (from pale to bright), the punchy contrast of black and white, and a fresh take on floral prints. Talk about #familygoals!

For her

Floral prints are blooming everywhere this season. The new way to sport the look is with flowers set against a dark background, along with bouquets in minimalist colour schemes. The trend is also popping up on accessories, from scarves to even watches! On the colour front, pink rules in shades ranging from soft blush to bold fuchsia. Monochrome lovers, take note: The timeless appeal of black and white is back and works especially well this season with brighter hues. On the shoe front, ankle boots with a chunky heel are the perfect way to kick off spring in style.

For him

Dare to see fashion through rose-coloured glasses this spring — in some cases even literally! The most popular pink for men right now is a powdery tone that pops on both t-shirts and suits. Wear it with sandy-beige shades for a beachy summer look, or with black for a more urban take. When it comes to classic plaids, this season is all about toned-down palettes of black and white, which just so happen to pair perfectly with even more black and white. High-contrast prints also work wonders with bright colours and pale pink. And because a stylish pair of sunglasses is always a great way to complete any warm-weather look, reach for frames with a retro vibe, particularly ones inspired by ‘50s or ‘60s style.

For girls

No longer reserved solely for princesses, pink is shedding its sugary-sweet image to embrace its sportier side. The bomber jacket is a key piece for athleisure-inspired ensembles, and what’s not to love about one that features a shiny material and floral embroidery? Pants are also borrowing from active wear this season, with drawstring details and elastic-band cuffs. Even better, black-and-white checks are not just for boys — they look great on a shirtdress layered over black skinny jeans.

For boys

Pink is a great way to revisit classic pieces, such as tailored button-downs and polo shirts. Like dad, boys can match pink with black, or pair it with tan-coloured chinos — the perfect combo for beating the heat in style. Black skinny jeans are the go-to bottom for cool toppers, from hooded sweatshirts to casual knits to spiffy dress shirts. Don’t forget about the new plaid shirt, either — one with oversized black-and-white checks, that is. Think of it as the urban equivalent of the classic lumberjack style!
