Tips for enjoying the summer season in style

Summer is finally here! After months in quarantine, following sanitary measures, we can now spend our days with family and friends outside, enjoying the beautiful weather and basking in the sun. From a day at the beach or pool, to water activities such as boating, paddle boarding, taking a long walk or a bike ride, there are plenty of ways to enjoy and celebrate the warm weather. With all the good times spent outside, it is important to protect yourself from UV exposure and choose the right beauty products. Thanks to us, you won't have to worry about your foundation melting or your mascara running, here are our tips to enjoy the summer season in beauty.

START WITH MOISTURIZING

A good beauty routine starts with moisturizing. Skin care is as important as your makeup. Choose a moisturizing cream or lotion, depending on your skin type, to apply morning and night. Forever Flawless' Diamond Powder Infused Multi-Purpose Lotion is a favorite. If you prefer light coverage, Lancôme's Skin Feels Good Tinted Moisturizer, marries skincare and makeup. Its lightweight shade is enriched with skin-friendly ingredients like plant glycerin, hyaluronic acid and moringa extract to enhance and protect your skin. Its flawless sheer coverage ensures a healthy, glowing complexion. Finally, don't forget to moisturize your lips and drink plenty of water, especially in hot weather.

PROTECT YOURSELF FROM THE SUN

After moisturizing, the most important thing is to use a sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher every day, our favorite being Clinique's SPF 50 face cream, available at Hudson's Bay. To protect properly, you should reapply every two hours. Always wear sunscreen under your makeup, even if your cosmetics contain SPF, it's important to put on an extra layer of your sunscreen. For hair, a product such as Moroccanoil's protection and prevention mist, found at De Neuville Coiffure et Spa, will help prevent discoloration and brassiness by protecting against daily environmental factors such as the sun. And finally, always carry a pair of sunglasses and a hat to cover your head, you will find great styles at Dynamite and Reitmans.

WEAR LESS MAKEUP

When it comes to makeup, less is more, if you want to avoid ending up with raccoon black eyes or your foundation disappearing and penetrating your skin pores because of the heat. Waterproof products will be your best allies as well as creams, gels and liquid products. If you don't want to wear makeup, but want a luminous complexion, apply an illuminating foundation like the one from Yves Rocher on your face, it will give your skin a glow.

DON'T FORGET THESE ESSENTIALS

To make the most of your days outside, don't forget a few essentials to bring with you in your bag: deodorant to keep you cool, hair elastics, like these lovely scrunchies from Bizou, to keep your hair in a ponytail when the heat is overwhelming, and after-sun lotion to soothe, moisturize and repair skin from sun damage.
